Naval officer. Cartographer. Pioneer. Captain James Cook embodied the ultimate explorer, combining advanced scientific methods and unbound curiosity. On the 250th anniversary of his first voyage on the Endeavour in 1768, BALL Watch Co. presents an exclusive timepiece: the Trainmaster Endeavour Chronometer. A three-hand chronometer with a date display, its elegant design has been inspired by Captain Cook’s own timekeeper that accompanied him on daring expeditions around the world.
Limited to only 250 pieces. Now available for pre-order.
While James Cook undoubtedly relied on the stars for guidance, the Trainmaster Endeavour Chronometer features the minimalistic use of 14 micro gas tubes for clear time reading in all dark environments. Unlike any other luminescent material found in watchmaking, its light energy is released when H3 gas molecules strike the internal colored surface of the tubes.
AN ELEGANT REPRESENTATION OF BOLD EXPLORATION.
Taking direct inspiration from Captain Cook’s “Harrison Chronometer Nr. 4”, the Trainmaster Endeavour Chronometer features a white enamel dial and the combination of thin Roman numerals and classic Arabic numerals. At the 6 o’clock position, the signature of James Cook artfully complements not only the sleek blue hands, but also the RR counterweight. Worn with a stainless steel bracelet or black calf strap, its refined heritage is on full display.
The Trainmaster Endeavour Chronometer runs on the chronometer certified Swiss-made automatic BALL RR1101-C movement and delivers high accuracy. It is shock resistant to 5,000Gs, anti-magnetic to 4,800A/m and water resistant to 50m/160ft.
“I who had ambition not only to go farther than anyone had done before, but as far as it was possible for man to go.”
– James Cook
THE VOYAGE TO A LEGENDARY DESTINATION.
Appointed captain of the Endeavour in 1768, James Cook set sail to observe the transit of Venus across the sun. Yet, it was a secret expedition to the hypothetical southern continent that would lead him to fame. Cook reached New Zealand in 1769 and outlined its land with almost no mistakes. The following year, the Endeavour landed in Australia and Cook claimed the land for Great Britain. A masterful captain and relentless explorer, James Cook charted thousands of miles of coastline and illuminated the world’s identity.
